How long are the California Wolf Center's tours?

Any type of tour guests choose to participate in, unless explicitly mentioned, will be roughly 1 hour long. We advise tour guests to bring water, hats and sunscreen.

Can I bring my service dog?

Service animals are not allowed access to the Conservation Center because their presence would fundamentally alter the programs we offer. The wild wolves who are our ambassadors, and the primary focus of our public programs, would be distracted by the presence of service dogs and at risk for potential exposure to zoonotic diseases.

Do we get to touch the wolves?

No, we do not allow any direct interaction with our wolves. Some of our wolves could be released into the wild, and even if they can’t, they are kept as wild as possible, so forcing them to interact with people could cause them stress, and would be exploitative.

What is the difference between a private and public tour?

Private tours involve you and your group of up to 6 people total with a more personalized experience, and are available at select times on weekdays. Public tours are open to up to 30 people, and are available Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Do you have discounts?

The discounts we offer come as a membership perk for our members. Explore our membership rewards here! We also offer a discount to those staying at KQ Ranch Resort.

Learn about our ambassador packs and wolf behavior as you watch staff give out themed enrichment - which could be food, substrate, scents, etc. - to our two wolf packs and participate in food enrichment tossing to one pack to get the wolves more active and expressing natural behaviors.

How far do we walk during the tour?

The tour consists of two viewing areas where you have the option to sit or stand while observing our ambassador wolves. In between the viewing areas, the path of the tour is roughly 60 yards of total walking. Note that the total walking distance will be broken down into 3 segments split by the time spent at each viewing area.

Is the tour route ADA/Handicap accessible?

The tour route is an unpaved dirt path that can be uneven due to rain and water runoff. Previous guests have successfully used crutches, wheelchairs and other mobility aids. However, we do recommend monitoring the weather around the time of your visit for any heavy rain or snow. If a member of your party has accessibility concerns and your tour is scheduled after a storm, we encourage you to call our offices to receive an updated report.
