Wolf Tours at California Wolf Center’s Conservation Center

Public Conservation Tours are available Friday through Monday at select times. This guided public tour of our two ambassador wolf packs offers a complete look at these apex predators. Guests will receive an educational presentation covering both the history of North American wolf conservation and the modern recovery efforts happening today. They will also meet our critically endangered Mexican gray wolves and learn how the California Wolf Center’s participation in the AZA SAFE Mexican Wolf Program has helped restore this iconic species to its native range.
During the tour, you will also learn about wolf behavior firsthand as you watch staff provide various forms of enrichment, such as unique foods, substrates, or scents. This specialized stimulation encourages our ambassador packs to stay active, engage their minds, and express their natural, instinctual behaviors. Guests will have the opportunity to go beyond observation and engage their senses, fostering a deeper understanding of and appreciation for these magnificent animals.

Holiday Tours are available once a month at select times. This seasonal event lets you experience our ambassador packs like never before. Guests will learn about wolf behavior while watching staff distribute themed enrichment such as unique foods and scents. You will even get to participate directly by tossing food enrichment to one of the packs, encouraging the wolves to stay active and express their natural behaviors. Each guest will receive a gift bag with specially themed goodies!

Feeding Tours are offered every Saturday. This unique experience allows you to witness one of our ambassador wolf packs as they receive their meal. This up-close encounter provides a rare, unforgettable glimpse into their natural feeding behavior. Because this is a raw and authentic process, please ensure everyone in your group is prepared for the sights and sounds before booking.
School Tours are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, this educational, interactive tour is designed specifically for students to discover the fascinating world of apex predators. Tailored to align with grade-level science and conservation standards, this guided experience offers students a unique, hands-on look at our ambassador wolf packs.
During the tour, students will participate in an engaging presentation covering wolf ecology, their vital role in the ecosystem, and the history of North American conservation. To bring the lesson to life, students will watch our staff provide specialized enrichment, witnessing firsthand how unique foods, substrates, and scents encourage the wolves to use their keen senses and express natural, instinctual behaviors.
