Yana (born 2014) was transferred to us from a captive wolf facility in Bridger, Montana in 2017. She is named after the Yana Native Americans, who are indigenous to Northern California, to honor the wolf coming back to our state.

She was introduced to her current mate, Wintu shortly after in hopes that they would form a new pack. 

In April 2018, Yana had two pups, Poppy and Tulici. Yana is an attentive mother who will still whimper to call her daughters when she thinks they’ve wandered too far from her. She is stocky and gray, and the smallest wolf in her pack! Yana is shy around people but occasionally will come up closer to check out tour groups or watch over her daughters.
